Talos Learn ("Talos Learn", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your ("you", "your", "Customer", "Educator User", "Student User", or "Child User") privacy and providing transparency about how we handle your personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of your data when you interact with our Services.
Through our Services, we provide learning tools that language teachers use to assign conversational practice with our artificial intelligence avatars to their students. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and disclose your personal data when you visit our Services or otherwise engage with us.
A Note on "Student Data"
Talos Learn is designed for providers of educational services, such as schools and school districts ("Schools"), as well as teachers and authorized school users and administrators ("Educator Users"). When the Services are used as part of a School's curriculum, the personal data related to students ("Students") may be protected by laws such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
However, Talos Learn is intentionally designed to protect student privacy:
- Students sign in only with an anonymous username. No other personal information (such as real names, email addresses, or contact details) is collected or required.
- There is no way to identify students personally, ensuring full anonymity in the learning experience.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will revise the "Last Updated" date above and notify users through the website or by email prior to changes taking effect.
Information We Collect
We define "personal data" as any data that can identify or relate to an individual. Talos Learn collects minimal personal data:
Account Registration
To create a Talos Learn account, Student Users only provide an anonymous username. No real names, emails, or identifying information are collected.
Educator Users may provide their name, title, school/district, and subject area to create and manage class assignments.
Communication & Support
If you contact us by email or support form, we collect the information you provide (e.g., name, email) to respond.
Usage Data & IP Addresses
When you use the Services, we collect technical data like IP address (retained no more than 30 days), device/browser type, and activity logs related to educational usage.
Use of AI and Student Interaction
Students interact with AI avatars in an open-ended, conversational format. Talos Learn is committed to privacy and safety in the use of AI:
- Conversations with AI avatars are not stored for training purposes.
- The AI does not retain memory between sessions. Each interaction is session-based and reset at the end of each activity.
- No student conversations are used to improve the AI model.
Speech may be processed by third-party services (e.g., Google, AWS) solely to recognize and respond to voice inputs.
Cookies and Tracking
Talos Learn uses cookies to support account login and improve user experience. Cookies include:
- Necessary cookies for authentication
- Preference cookies to remember language or settings
- Session and analytics cookies for understanding usage patterns
Talos Learn does not use cookies for targeted advertising.
Google Analytics may be used to gather anonymized data about website usage. You may opt out via Google's browser add-on.
How We Use Your Information

We do not send marketing messages to Student Users or Child Users.
Student Data
Talos Learn treats Student Data as strictly confidential. We:

- Do not use Student Data for advertising or profiling

- Maintain strong security protocols to protect student interactions
Schools remain the data controllers for any identifiable Student Data they may manage independently.
Child Users
For Child Users (under 13 in the U.S., or under digital age of consent in their country):
- No personal data is collected
- Anonymous usernames are used
- Parent email may be collected for transparency and consent
- No speech data is retained for analysis or training
- Lessons are made age-appropriate
